Anthony Osmond, 52, was imprisoned for cutting Gareth Jones in the mid-section after he began dating 20-year-old girl Oasis.
A court heard Osmond was depicted as "fixated and "over-defensive".
He likewise sent Gareth messages on his telephone and Facebook saying: "You're dead."
Swansea Crown Court heard Gareth, 29, required life-sparing surgery subsequent to being wounded in the heart with the kitchen blade - however survived.
Prosecutor Helen Randall, said: "Osmond was over defensive and fixated on Oasis.
"She acted as barmaid at the Nags Head bar and shaped an association with Mr Jones who was a client."
