3 High Schoolers Shot Around Brashear High School

Pittsburgh police Wednesday had six "persons of interest" in custody pertaining to the shooting of three high schoolers around their high school , authorities said.

One student was grazed in the head, a second was hit in the throat and shoulder, and a the last was struck in the lower leg and foot, according to Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richards.


Richards said the six people being quizzed were picked up at a residence near the school . She said the shooting could be drug-related .


"We don't know if there have been numerous shooters presently," Richards said . "No one is communicating at this point ."


one out of the affected individuals was stated in stable state at Allegheny General Hospital , as per a medical center spokeswoman . Authorities said the wounds were not critical .

The shots rang out near Brashear High School promptly after the final bell rang at 2 :46 p .m., said Ebony Pugh , a spokeswoman for Pittsburgh's public schools . There exists a middle school right next to the high school.


The students were contacted by one or more gunman who came out of the forest and opened fire , the school spokeswoman said . They were shot while strolling to their automobiles.


A minimum of two of the sufferers were able to dash back into the school and alert authorities . The identities of the victims , in their mid- to late teens , were unidentified .
Richards said the shooting might have been in "retaliation" for an earlier occurrence but failed to detailed.
