A 7-year-old was handcuffed over $5 then interrogated for 10 hours, 
the boy's parents allege in their $250 million claim against New York 
City police. According to an ABC Local
 report Jan. 30, Wilson Reyes allegedly stole $5 from another student 
after punching him in the face. His mother, Frances Mendez, said he was 
detained and "interrogated" for 10 hours on Dec. 4.
Family attorney, Jack Yankowitz, said that the 7-year-old was 
arrested held at a Bronx station for four hours then was transferred to a
 precinct house and held there another six hours. He was charged with 
robbery.
The city reportedly dropped the charges on Dec. 26 and a spokesman 
declined to comment on the incident. School officials also said 
everything happened off school grounds. 
In a report published by the Christian Post, another student admitted to stealing the $5 from another student.
As for the lawsuit document it reads, "Reyes was handcuffed and 
verbally, physically and emotionally abused, intimidated, humiliated, 
embarrassed and defamed."
The boy's mother claim she wasn't able to see her son while he was 
being held. She went on to say that he was seated in a chair with his 
left hand cuffed to the wall.
"I never imagined the cops could do that to a child. We're traumatized," she said.
