A 19-year-old Houston man, a day in front of beginning junior college, unintentionally killed himself Tuesday while taking selfies with a firearm, police said.
The firearm impact hit Deleon Alonso Smith in the throat, CNN member KPRC reported.
Relatives were stunned.
"It's the most exceedingly terrible feeling in my life," Eric Douglas, the casualty's uncle said.
"It's an insensible feeling. It's still mind boggling," Smith's grandma Alma Douglas told the station. "Yesterday was my birthday and he came to wish me glad birthday, and after that to hear this sort of news."
Agent's told KPRC that Smith's cousin was in another room at the time the firearm went off.
The cousin told police they discovered the weapon before in the day. They're exploring.
